After the strict order of Muzaffarpur District Consumer Commission of Bihar, finally the insurance company LIC. Admitting his mistake, he has paid Rs 5 lakh to the victim. The entire matter is of Sadar police station area of the district. Where Rekha Kumari, resident of Anandpuri Mohalla of Bibiganj, had filed a complaint in the District Consumer Commission on January 2, 2023 through human rights advocate SK Jha.
It was told that the victim’s husband Avinash Kumar had been working with LIC since October 2008. He was an agent of Motihari branch. But he died on 12 December 2016. Since the death, the victim was facing trouble by visiting LIC offices to get the insurance claim amount. But he got L.I.C. Payment was not being made.
According to the information, after getting tired of visiting the offices, the victim had filed a complaint before the District Consumer Commission through human rights advocate SK Jha. In that L.I.C. Three officers were made opposite parties. After that, the hearing lasted for about a year, in which after hearing both the sides, the Commission agreed with LIC. It was ordered that it should immediately pay the insurance claim amount to the victim Rekha Kumari.
Following the Commission’s order, LIC Insurance Company appeared before the Commission through one of its advocates and admitted its mistake. Then, while apologizing to the Commission for his mistake, he paid the insurance claim amount of Rs 5 lakh to the victim.
In the case, human rights advocate SK Jha said that this victory is not only the victory of an individual, but it is the victory of justice and consumer law. This is a victory for every consumer who is now fed up with the arbitrariness of insurance companies. This victory will lead to justice for countless such cases in the future.
